BOY! What A Way To Wrap This Segment Up!

After leaving Chattanooga, we headed down river passing by Goose Pond, Ditto Landing, and then to Joe Wheeler Marina for the Fall Rendezvous. It was such a busy week learning new material for the next segment of the loop and we had lots of fun meeting up with so many new Loopers too! A lot of Loopers left the rendezvous on Friday afternoon and almost everyone else left early Saturday morning. We left late morning and headed to Ditto Landing in Huntsville, Alabama where we planned to keep the boat for the next year. Pete had come down with a cold at the end of the rendezvous and had been coughing a lot. Pete and I always share the boat driving duties. But as we headed to Ditto I was so tired, that I would nap when I wasn’t on driving duties! Pete thought I might be coming down with his cold.

Sunday morning I felt horrible! Headache, body aches, chills, and so tired. I decided to take a Covid Test. And yep you guessed it! I had Covid! My first time ever so it was a bit unnerving especially as we were out of town. Monday morning we called our Primary Care Doctor and Via Telehealth, he prescribed Paxlovid for me. Pete went and picked it up at the Walmart Pharmacy and picked up more Covid /tests. I started the meds and Pete took a Covid test – Positive! Back he went to Walmart and picked up a prescription via his TeleHealth visit.

Fortunately with it being so late in the boating season, we were the only ones on the dock at Ditto Landing and we were able to comfortably quarantine ourselves as we cleaned up the boat and began the chore of packing up. Pete’s symptoms seemed to be milder than mine were so with the help of the meds and lots of rest, we managed to get all packed up and later in the week we rented a U-Haul Truck to pack our belongings and begin the journey to head home to cold and cheerful Centerville, Ohio.

We left Spring Fling in November all alone on the Transient Dock at Ditto Landing. But in December, Ditto has a Christmas On The River Parade. Since we weren’t going to be able to attend in person, we donated to the cause and the staff at Ditto decorated our boat for the special occasion. Our awesome Harbor Host at Ditto, Dave kept an eye on Spring Fling all throughout the Winter until we returned in the Spring.
