Marina Hopping

Marina Hopping from town to town is always interesting. You can certainly read up about the Marina and read others recommendations, but until you have arrived and experienced it yourself – that’s a different story. We’ve met a variety of boaters and so far most of them are ones who stay at their Marina for the Season. We’ve encountered a few Loopers but the majority of them are coming through Canada right now as last year Canada wasn’t open due to you know what and this year they are taking advantage of the beautiful Canadian waters and landscape. Anyway, I ramble. Yesterday we left quiet little Harbor Springs where there were only 3 of us actually staying overnight at the marina. We woke up at 5:00am which is extremely early especially for Cheri! We motored for approximately 7 hours and arrived at the East Tawas Marina. The dock hands helped us dock our boat and we settled into this much larger and livelier marina with lots of people and weekend boaters. They bring their lawn chairs out and sit, chat, and drink. Loopers who are moving from marina to marina call this Docktails. We walked into town to check it out. We discovered a Blues Festival going on under huge tents right at the end of the marina so we were able to listen for free! We checked out the market place and the many restaurants. We ended up at the Mexican Restaurant and ate way too much and the margaritas certainly were tasty too! When we arrived back at the boat, we were both ready to go to sleep but we managed to stay awake until almost 10:00. Ahh quiet, gentle rocking and rolling sleep. And then – the weekend Night Life in the marina woke us up at 11:30! Are you kidding me??!! Some boater had his music – did I mention Country Music? booming with Bass so ?!?! loud that we couldn’t sleep! We might not have been in a partying mood at that time of night either! LOL! .

I’ve been to Tawas! Love the town! They have a great chocolate/coffee shop- what more could a girl need? Too bad the loud music wasn’t “Ice Ice Baby” or you could have taught them to dance, Cheri!🤗
